Hosting

There are a number of services within the Hosting portfolio. They are all referred to as ISP (Internet Service Provider) Services and include:

 

Domain Names

The provision of a simple domain name PLUS annual DNS management such as re-pointing and pro-active renewal. An example of a domain name is centricnetworks.net or centricnetworks.co.uk. There are many suffixes (for example .co.uk) including 1 for each country and a number of specialist suffixes such as .org (for non-profit making organisations) or .net (for ISP)

 

We normally register domain names within 24 hours and can transfer them from other ISPs within the same time period.

 

Organisations require a domain name for both e-mail (ie dave@yourcompany.co.uk) or web site hosting (www.yourcompany.co.uk).

 

Centric Networks runs 4 DNS servers located in 3 independent sites making our DNS service highly resilient and constantly available.

 

SSL certificate

Centric Networks is a Thawte partner and is therefore allowed to register SSL certificates (Secure Sockets Layer Certificates). These are used to secure websites for transactions (i.e. taking credit cards etc) and are recognised by the padlock in the bottom right corner of a browser window. They are accepted as the industry standard for securing websites.

• Highly available service with a full service level to ensure their web services are always available guaranteeing up to 100% availability.
• High speed Internet connection with unlimited bandwidth to ensure users can always access the system as fast as their connection allows.
• 24x7 Hardware and software management and maintenance ensuring that all software updates are carried out and hardware is maintained pro-actively.
• Security (Dual firewalls in High Availability, Intrusion Detection System, Anti-Virus protection, physical security), resilience (generators and batteries plus 24x7 monitoring and management), at least 2 internet connections with unrestricted bandwidth.
• Choice of Win2k (or earlier version) or UNIX Operating Systems running on Hewlett Packard/Compaq Hardware.
